Welcome to the World Youth Choir

The World Youth Choir (WYC) is original in its concept, bringing together talented young singers aged 17 - 26 from all over the world, to its summer or winter sessions organized in different world countries, each year. Since its creation in 1989, the World Youth Choir has established itself as one of the most remarkable musical and intercultural experiences offered to young musicians, meeting annually for intense rehearsals followed by an international concert tour. The diversity of the choir's conductors and repertoire reflects the cultural diversity of its singers. In 1996, UNESCO honoured the World Youth Choir with the title Artist for Peace, recognizing the WYC's success as a platform for intercultural dialogue through music.

World Youth Choir session 2012, Cyprus

The World Youth Choir session 2012 was held in Cyprus from August 7th to September 1st, 2012 thanks to the cooperation between the Foundation World Youth Choir and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation - Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, supported by the Cyprus presidency of the European Union (cultural events in 2012). The World Youth Choir had a chance to perform a cappella and vocal-instrumental repertoire touring Cyprus, conducted by Cecilia Rydinger Alin, Sweden and Ayis Ioannides, Cyprus.

60 singers of 40 countries invited to Oslo by JM Norway

The World Youth Choir participated at the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony on December 10th 2011 and the Nobel Peace Prize Concert held in Oslo on December 11th – the annual musical tribute to the year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Featuring an international selection of musical artists and celebrity hosts, the concert honoured the spirit and message of the Nobel Peace Prize. It was a musical celebration like no other.
