World Youth Choir summer session 2008

The World Youth Choir 2008 summer session will take place in Hong-Kong from July 14th to August 11th thanks to the collaboration of the Hong Kong Treble Choir Association. It will be a great opportunity for the WYC to fully endorse the responsibility of Artist for Peace and to deliver a message of peace, understanding and freedom in that area of the world.

The WYC will have the chance to perform 2 programs:

- A vocal jazz and pop acoustic program with Steve Zegree, professor at the WM University in

Kalamazoo, USA and founder of the world known Gold Company vocal jazz group.

- An Asian program (Japan, Korea, Phillipines, etc) with Hak Won Yoon , director of the

Inchon City Choir in Korea and considered as one of the most respected conductor in Asia.

Dr. Stephen Zegree

Stephen Zegree has appeared as pianist, conductor and clinician on four continents. In addition to being pianist in The Western Jazz Quartet, Dr. Zegree is widely recognized as one of the premiere vocal jazz educators in the world. His award-winning ensemble, Gold Company, has appeared throughout the world in concerts, clinics, and jazz festivals. Dr. Zegree's choral arrangements are published by Hal Leonard, Shawnee Press, and Warner Brothers, and his definitive book, "The Complete Guide To Teaching Vocal Jazz" is published by Heritage Music Press. He co-produced jazz vocalist Mark Murphy's recording, "The Nat King Cole Songbook", which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Dr. Zegree's students are among today's leaders in jazz and pop performance, Broadway, recording studio production, writing, arranging, singing, and music education.

Dr. HAK-WON YOON

Dr. Hak-Won Yoon is a conductor, professor, composer and clinician. He is also a publisher, develops new Korean choral music and leads 40 young composer for it.

He graduated from the College of Music at Yonsei University with major in composition and studied choral conducting and voice at Lowell University Graduate School. He received honored doctorate degrees of church music at Midwest University.

Since 1970-2003, Professor Yoon has been conducted the 'World vision Korea Children's Choir'. His Choir's went on numerous world tours and achieved perfection over the years. He earned a very notable respect in the music circle around the world.

In 1978, he won the Director's Award at the international Choral Competition, which was sponsored by the BBC,

From 1983-1987, he conducted the Daewoo Chorale. In 1984 and 1987 respectively, Professor Yoon received excellent reviews from Asia Cantat in Nagano, Japan and from the 1st World Choral Symposium in Vienna. The Seoul Ladies' Singers were invited to the 3rd World Choral Symposium in Vancouver, Canada and Incheon City chorale was invited to Europa Cantat 1997 in Linz, Austria. He also participated in the5th World Choral Symposium, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In 2002 he conducted the Asian Youth Choir in Niigata Asian Youth Choir, In Japan.

He teached for 25 years in Music College, Chung-Ang University. Professor Yoon is in the center stage of Korean Choral Society and here are some of his achievements :

* Artistic Director and Permanent Conductor of Incheon City Chorale.

* Successive service in Chairman of Korean Church Music Association and Korean Federation for Choral Music.

* He was Advisor of IFCM;

* From 1971- Music Director of Zion Choir at the Young-Nak Presbyterian Church;

* Emeritus Professor of Music College, Chung-Ang University;

* He was invited numerous times as a panel of International Choir Competition and lecturer;

* Founded Seoul Ladies' Singers at 1989 and now is the Artistic Director;

* President , Seoul Chorus Center;

* Music Director , Yoon, Hak-Won Chorale.

* Produced more than 50 CD and tape

* Incheon City Chorale will be perform ACDA Convention in 2009 as an invited  foreign choir
