We are happy to announce that after the success of the EUROPA CANTAT festival in Pécs in 2015 the World Youth Choir session for 2017 will be held in Pécs, Hungary with a following tour in Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary between 4th and 24th of July. Auditions for the session will open by the end of November 2016 and shall last until 17th of February, 2017.

 

The core programme of the World Youth Choir for 2017 will consist of classical and contemporary pieces (e.g. Mendelssohn, Tajcevic, Kodály, Forte, Orbán), and of folk arrangements form the countries where the tour takes place. Thanks to the rich diversity of the conductors it will also include African folk tunes, African-American spirituals, and contemporary compositions from all around the world. The World Youth Choir will be directed by conductors Zoltán Pad from Hungary and Ken Wakia from Kenya.

 

The organisers are looking for young, talented, experienced singers from all over the world, interested in improving their skills of choral singing. If you are a passionate and experienced high level choral singer or soloist, aged between 17 and 26 years, have basic or professional music education, are excited to meet new friends all around the world, are eager to learn in a multicultural environment, are ready to spend nearly one month with great people don’t hesitate to apply for the 2017 session.

 

Please note that in addition to the travel costs from/to the session this year the participation fee for singers is 100€, to be paid after the results of the international jury. There will also be a possibility to apply for a scholarship in order to be able to join the project. The scholarships is only related to the participation fee it doesn't include any travel grant.
